Frequently asked questions
The essence of the laser's action on the hair follicle is the phenomenon of selective photothermolysis. Laser light is selectively absorbed by the melanin-containing structures of the hair follicle and is converted into heat, which in turn destroys the elements of the hair responsible for its growth, thus causing permanent hair loss and follicle destruction. As research has shown, this phenomenon works most effectively on hair in the active growth phase (anagen). The other growth periods of our hair - the atrophic (catagen) and resting (telogen) phases - are "silent" to the laser.
It is assumed that after the first Laser Hair Removal treatment, approximately 30 - 40% of dark hair (anagen hair) will not grow back. After three treatments, approximately 80 - 92% (the next portion of hair that has meanwhile entered the anagen phase). A small remaining percentage is lighter, thinner and less visible hair.

The skin within the area to be depilated must not be dry or irritated; if required, emollients (moisturising, oil-soothing creams) should be applied a few days beforehand, but not on the day of the treatment.
The day before the first treatment, the hair in the area to be depilated should be shaved - a square of about 5 cm should be left to assess the colour and thickness of the hair, this area will then be shaved by the practitioner. (Blonde, grey or red hair is a contraindication to the treatment, due to the lack or low effectiveness of laser hair removal in their case). Aspirin and other blood-thinning substances should be avoided. The skin must not be tanned or treated with self-tanner.
Important - 24 hours before and after the treatment do not consume alcohol!
Immediately before, the skin should be clean and not lubricated with anything.
Step-by-step treatment after laser hair removal:
For the first 2-3 days after treatment:
- use a tonic, alcohol-free milk or clean water to wash your skin,
- use Alantan Plus, Bepanthen or Termcool backing or cream on sensitive areas,
- dry the skin gently - do not rub or otherwise irritate it,
- if you have waxed your armpits, refrain from using deodorants and antiperspirants (we recommend using aloe vera-based antiperspirants).
For the first 3-5 days after treatment:
- refrain from using the pool and sauna,
- do not use sun-sensitising medication,
- give up cosmetics and medicines containing St John's wort, calendula, nettle, field horsetail, skin, hair and nail supplements, psoralens, cordial, pansies, thiazides and other photosensitising herbs.
For the first 2 weeks after surgery:
- use creams with UVA and UVB filters (protection of 50 or more),
- refrain from using exfoliating cosmetics and medicines.
During the entire laser hair removal treatment:
- sunbathing is absolutely contraindicated (this also applies to tanning beds),
- do not use creams with vitamins A, C or acids,
- do not use medicines with isotretinoin (e.g. for the treatment of acne) or other preparations with vitamin A or retinol,
- refrain from waxing or plucking hair with tweezers.
A natural symptom after the treatment is a temporary swelling or redness of the epilated skin area, as well as scabs that appear there. All symptoms should disappear within a few days at most.
